The King River Gorge Kayaking Tour is a fully guided flat water kayaking tour through the peaceful and tranquil pools and small shallow rapids of the middle reaches of the King River Gorge near Queenstown Tasmania.
We explore the area of the King River between Crotty Dam and John Butters Power Station. Because most of the flow of the river bypasses this section of the river, the water you will be kayaking on is quiet and has a gently flow. Ideal conditions to observe the Huon Pines lining the river bank. Watch out for the fresh water crayfish, trout and native fish that inhabit the river as well as a variety of bird life.
Allow around four hours for the King River Gorge Kayaking Tour from start to finish back at Queenstown.

We had a great time with Oliver and Carolyn as guides, they equipped us with all the gear, wet-suits etc, it wouldn’t happen without their expertise, so yeah, expect to get wet and see what the pristine river gorge has to offer, thanks for the experience!

We are so pleased you had a great time!

Despite some rain we had a brilliant time. Our guides Oliver and Carolyn were amazing, so informative and helpful. We jumped into the river many times to guide our kayaks up the rapids, then venture on to the next beautiful and peaceful part of the river. Needless to say we achieved our goal to see the waterfall at the end of the gorge. It took about 2 seconds for all of us to jump in and swim to the waterfall to stand under the icy cold water and experience nature at its best! None of us expected this day to be so unforgettable, but it was. We are all so glad that we pushed ourselves out of our comfort zone to enjoy the experience of a lifetime. It certainly was not what we were expecting, but one we will never forget.
