Rescue Pool Session and Beginners Kayaking Lesson: Learning to kayaking is both a challenging and rewarding sport. Paddling a kayak allows you to really visit some amazing locations and see some wonderful wildlife, especially around Hobart, and greater Tasmania.
But before you can do any of that, before you paddle on closed and open water, and before you undertake any other kayaking courses you have to master one thing... You have to learn how to safely recover from a capsize.
This 2-hour pool rescue session will give you the skills to manage a capsize situation. We focus on wet exit and recovery skills and teach you the skills to be proficient at deep-water kayak wet exit and recovery. This all takes place in an indoor-heated swimming pool so you can learn these skills in a comfortable and safe environment.
We conduct this 2-hour rescue session on the Friday evening before our Introduction to Sea Kayaking session on the Saturday. You can attend just this rescue pool session, but it is prerequisite of the Introduction to Sea Kayaking that all participants have completed a rescue pool session.
You will provide kayaks and equipment for this session.
