Alice Springs Balloon Flight: Your balloon flight begins in the cool pre dawn darkness as you are picked up from your accommodation in Alice Springs. During the drive to our desert launch site you will get to know the crew as they make final weather checks and explain the routine for the morning. At the launch site gas burners are used to inflate the balloons just as the sun lights up the rugged MacDonnell Ranges.
Alice Springs Balloon Flight experience
Once floating gently in the air in your hot air balloon, you will appreciate the vast remoteness of the Australian Outback. Wildlife, particularly big red kangaroos are seen nearly every day as the hot air balloon floats above spinifex grasses, mulga scrub and cattle stations.
After landing you may become involved in assisting the crew or taking photographs as we pack the nylon balloon back into its bag. At the balloon landing site you will be offered Australian sparkling wine and fruit juice accompanied by a selection of muffins and slices, biscuits, cheese and fresh fruit. A range of souvenirs is also available.
Transfers back to your Alice Springs accommodation, the airport or another tour, and a commemorative flight certificate completes your morning.

What to wear and bring
It is dusty in the Outback. Outdoor clothing (preferably not white), long pants and hat or cap are recommended. Enclosed flat heel shoes are essential. It is no colder in the balloon than on the ground but it can be cooler before sunrise. Warm clothing may be necessary from approximately May to September.
Loose items such as dangling jewellery and scarves are not permitted once passengers reach the launch site and dis-embark from the bus.
Physical fitness is not a requirement to enjoy a ballooning adventure, but passengers must be able to climb up and into the basket (approx. 1.2 metres in height) unaided using the basket foot holes and stand for the duration of the flight.
We cannot fly anyone more than 12 weeks pregnant. Illness and/or recent operations that may affect the person or other persons on the tour must be notified to Outback Ballooning in advance. Medication should be brought on the tour. Any form of disablement must be discussed with Outback Ballooning prior to making a booking. Each person is considered on an individual basis.
The flight and carriage of any passenger will take place at the pilot’s discretion.
- Children prices are applicable from 6–16 years of age.
- Children 3–5 years are not recommended but considered on an individual basis.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
We have a large fleet of balloons suitable for 2-4 people, up to 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 people in one balloon depending on number of bookings on the day.
Break Loose recommends that you should always get Travel Insurance.
