Weekend Beginners Surf Camp

This 2 day progressive surf course at Surf Camp at Gerroa south of Sydney, is designed for absolute beginners. 2 x 2-hour lessons each day for 2 days. Learn to paddle, stand up, drop into and ride across the waves. Learn all about how to read the waves as well as surfing etiquette.

ITINERARY

Departs Sydney Fridays at 6:15pm. Finishes in Sydney on Sundays at 7pm. Our Weekend Surf Camp starts in Sydney as we head down to the surf camp on Friday night. Spend Saturday and Sunday learning the basics and improving your surfing with our friendly instructors at Seven Mile Beach.

SURFING

Our surf course is designed for absolute beginners to learn progressively and correctly. You can expect to stand up and ride waves and acquire the essential skills and knowledge to continue surfing.

ACCOMMODATION

2 nights stay in our modern beachside cabins. All linen is provided. Our rooms only ever hold a maximum of 6 people per cabin ensuring a comfortable stay. Enjoy clean onsite facilities, a relaxing outdoor covered entertainment area, hammocks, DVD movies, hot showers, swimming pool, internet, laundry and café.

LOCATION

Seven Mile Beach is a picturesque national park beach. It's an ideal location for beginner surfers with its low energy waves and scenic surroundings.

Only 2 hours total travel time from Sydney, it offers a chance to escape the city and experience the buzz of catching a wave amongst an uncrowded, pristine natural environment.

MEALS

2 x breakfasts, 2 x lunches, 1 x dinners. Meals are cooked on-site with fresh local produce. We either serve buffet style or large portions to cater for hungry surfers. Experience authentic outdoor Australian BBQ dining. Inform us of special dietary requirements.

STAFFING

All of our surfing instructors friendly, fully trained and qualified. They hold a Level 1 Surf Coaching Accreditation, Bronze Medallion Life Saving & Senior 1st Aid Certificates.

WHAT TO BRING

Swimwear/Boardshorts; A Towel; clothes and personal items for the 5 days; A Huge Appetite; Lots of Energy.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

Most of our surfers are 18 to 27 years of age. There is no age restriction, although we do require a full paying adult to accompany anyone under 17 years.

We Pick-up: Monday 7:15am outside Sydney Central YHA/Scubar. (Cnr of Rawson Pl and Pitt St). Please let us know if you wish to make your own way to the camp.

What do we do if it rains? The lessons will still go on! Unless the conditions are unsafe, lessons will continue even if it rains.

Can I bring my own board? Depending on the type of board you've got, we generally prefer you to use our custom made boards, especially designed for beginner surfers.

How many people can be at surf camp at one time? Maximum of 40 people with a maximum of 8 people per instructor.

When is the best time of year to go to Surf Camp? The weather is warmest during our summer months of December through to February. However, some of the best waves are before and after this period. Surf Camp Australia operates between September and May.
