On arrival to the skydiving centre you will be asked to sign a waiver, and be weighed. Weight restrictions do apply with all skydiving centres. Generally if your weight is under 95 kgs you are good to go. If you are over this weight an extra fee is usually charged and a jump is still possible but the final decision is made by the chief jump master.
You should wear comfortable loose clothing as you would normally dress for the weather on the day. Some operators will provide you with a special jump suit. You should also wear sports shoes or runners.
Before the flight you will be introduced to your tandem instructor, then you will go through a safety briefing and your instructor will correctly fit you with a harness. You are also supplied with safety goggles.
You and your tandem instructor will then board the plane and your instructor will attach his harness to your harness. The plane will then climb to an altitude of between 12,000 and 14,000 feet. Don't forget to look out the window and take in the amazing views the flight will offer you.
After a final systems check, the doors are opened and your tandem master will take you to the edge. You have now reached the point of no return and it's time for your first tandem skydive. With a tap on your shoulder, your head back, arms crossed, and out you go! Now the adrenalin is really pumping through your veins, you are freefalling at around 200kph and the air is rushing past you.
