Glasshouse Mountains Glider Joy Flight

On the day of your Glasshouse Mountains glider joy flight, you’ll be met by your experienced glider pilot and you’ll be introduced to the glider. You will climb aboard one of our latest model Super Dimona motor gliders. These gliders are the most reliable and comfortable motor gliders available and feature excellent visibility through a one piece canopy with no door or windscreen pillars to block your view.

Depart from Caboolture Airfield or Maroochydore Airfield (optional)

As you depart from either Caboolture Airfield or Maroochydore Airfield, you will cruise out to Mt Beerwah, around Crookneck and Mt Tibrogargan in the fabulous Glasshouse Mountains. You will then climb over Cairncross Park on the edge of the Blackall Range, out over Maleny and Lake Baroon in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland where the engine will be shut down and you will then begin the magic experience of gliding while taking in magnificent views of the Sunshine Coast down to Caloundra, the Pumicestone Passage, Bribie Island and out to Moreton Island in Moreton Bay.

During the Glasshouse Mountains glider flight you'll be sitting next to your pilot in the front seat of the glider. You will have plenty of opportunities to take photographs and discuss the flight with your pilot on the flight radio. If you choose to, you can have a go at flying the glider under the watchful instruction of your experience glider pilot. You’ll discover just how easy it is to fly! Your pilot is a qualified motor glider instructor and will be more than happy to explain how this state of the art glider flies and the techniques used by glider pilots to fly long distances using just the natural thermal energy in the atmosphere.

Flight Duration: Approximately 1 hour

Location: We fly from Caboolture Airfield (45 minutes north of Brisbane) but we can also fly from Maroochydore Airfield on the Sunshine Coast. Choose below in our "options" area. Default is Caboolture Airfield.

How many passengers can you fly?
Each of our motor gliders carries a pilot/instructor and passenger. We are the only operator with two motor gliders which allows you the unique opportunity to enjoy your gliding adventure with a friend or partner on a Formation Flight.

What type of motor gliders do you have?
We have the two most modern motor gliders in Queensland. Both are the current model HK36 Super Dimona. They are the most reliable and comfortable motor gliders made and feature excellent visibility through a one piece canopy with no door or windscreen pillars to block your view - a big advance on older motor gliders. What happens if the day I am booked to do my flight the weather is lousy?
No problems we will not expect you to fly, we want you to really enjoy your flight and will be more than happy to move your booking to a more suitable day.

Are there any weight restrictions?
The maximum weight limit is 110kg. Don’t forget to bring your camera as there are plenty of spectacular photo opportunities!

When do we fly?
We fly 7 days a week (excludes some public holidays) from 8am – 4pm. Bookings are essential and are subject to availability. You will be required to complete a waiver prior to participating in the experience.
