Abseiling for beginners, just 20 minutes from Hobart, with your experienced adventure guides at Blackmans Bay. This challenging experience is sure to excite with its fully guided 18 metre abseils over “the Blowhole”.
Located Blackmans Bay around twenty minutes south of Hobart, this is a picturesque 18 metre abseil over “The Blowhole”. There is a great rock face to scramble back up, or use our supplied caving ladder. There are fantastic beaches nearby for swimming and games, and an underwater snorkelling ‘bushwalk’ around ten minutes south.
The day commences with an introduction and welcome by your friendly, skilled abseiling instructors, followed by a safety briefing, an overview of all roping equipment used on the program and a fitting of personal abseiling gear. A demonstration of abseiling techniques, followed by a practical session using these skills on level ground, helps to reinforce the new knowledge. Then it's off to do your first abseil down the picturesque 18 metre abseil over “The Blowhole”.

DURATION: As the abseil site is only around twenty minutes from Hobart, this can either be a half-day or full day trip.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum age 12 years
A basic level of fitness is required to participate but no previous experience is necessary
This is an introductory day and the instructor will teach you everything you need to know to abseil with confidence
For your safety and enjoyment ensure that you have a good night’s sleep before the course
NUMBERS ON THE DAY:
1–200 people – we need a minimum of 2 people to book a day, but individuals are welcome to join existing trips.

Guides (one guide per 4 abseilers)
all ropes, equipment and safety gear including helmets
$10M APRA approved public liability insurance
a CD of digital photographs
WHAT TO BRING:
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting long trousers, tights or a tracksuit, plus shorts if it’s warm
Robust and comfortable footwear – running shoes are suitable
Wet weather gear
Day pack including; Snacks and lunch; water bottle + water, sunscreen and a hat or beanie, sunglasses
Don’t forget your camera
EXTRAS: We can provide transport to and from Hobart for $10 per person. Lunch can be arranged at the site for between $5 and $40 per person, ranging from salad rolls and fruit to gourmet Tasmanian produce.
This is available all year around, but we are unable to abseil during high winds.
