Unfolding beneath you, as you gently float across the tranquil city of Canberra,
Australia's national capital, your midweek hot air balloon flight will have
you experiencing the peaceful joy of "lighter than air" flight as
you gently glide over the city surrounds. Once back on the ground your Canberra
Hot Air Balloon Flight will include a full buffet breakfast at Rydges Fig Tree
Cafe.
Your hot air balloon flight begins just before dawn, when we all meet up and
prepare with a pre-flight briefing. Then its off to the launch site which is
determined by your pilot and the current wind conditions. You are welcome to
help us prepare the balloon for flight or just stand back and take photos of
the experience. The choice is yours!
With the hot air balloon ready for flight, its time to leave your cares and
worries behind as we gently drift along for up to an hour over Australia's capital
city. The balloon travels slowly so there is plenty of time to see all the sights
and hear all the sounds of the city waking up.
Your pilot will then bring you slowly back to earth, the ground crew will help
us all pack up, then its back to Rydges Capital Hill Hotel for the conclusion
of your hot air balloon adventure. At the hotel there will be a nice champagne
(or non-alcoholic drink) waiting for you. You'll be presented with your personal
Flight Certificate acknowledging your hot air balloon experience then its time
to enjoy your full buffet breakfast in the Fig Tree Cafe.
This is a Mid-Week experience with full buffet breakfast.
Children from 6 years and reasonably fit adults of all ages are able
to fly. Our crew can assist you in and out of the basket. You must be able to
stand for one hour. Not recommended if you are pregnant, have significant back
or hip problems, or have had a recent operation.
Passengers must complete a Registration, Medical Check and Release before flying.
Non-flying family and friends are welcome to follow in their own transport.
Our pilots and balloons are fully licensed by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
Child rate applies to those aged 6-12 years. Children 3-5 years travel for
free.
WHAT TO BRING/WEAR:
Wear comfortable clothing for an outdoor adventure, including sturdy footwear
and pants. It's no colder in the air than on the ground as you will be drifting
with the wind.
TIME:
You will meet with everyone before dawn at Rydges Capital Hill Hotel on the corner of Canberra Avenue and National Circuit in Forrest, where you can enjoy a tea or coffee before
the flight. Meeting time will be confirmed after booking.
Your flight will be for approximately 45 mins to one hour but the morning will
take three to four hours to complete from the time we meet to the time your
adventure finishes at Rydges Capital Hill.
LOCATION:
The take-off site for the morning hot air balloon flight depends on the direction
and speed of the upper winds. Your pilot will decide which is the best area
to take off from.
NUMBERS:
We operate balloon flights with a minimum of 6 passengers. Our balloons will
carry from 6 to 14 passengers. For your comfort and safety and to guarantee
a great view our baskets are divided into sections each holding several passengers.
This experience is available on Weekends and includes a full buffet
breakfast.
