Everest 2006 Highlights

The 2006 Everest climbing season ending much has been made about the tragedies that have occured this year but perhaps now is a good time to recap on the successes for this year. More than 200 climbers reached the summit this year. Australian Robert Killup and New Zealander Mark Inglis where among the successful climbers to achieve this. Mark Inglis achieving his success on two artificial carbon fibre legs, breaking one at 7,000 metres. He became the first double-amputee to summit Mt Everest.
MEDIA RELEASE: Expedition to a Wonder of the Natural World. In a much anticipated announcement, Geocentric Adventure Racing has released plans to hold the third edition of the XPD Expedition Race on the Whitsunday Coast, Australia. Race Director Craig Bycroft said “Competitors will travel through reef, rainforest and outback in this diverse expedition race. They will experience the majestic Whitsunday Islands, lush highland rainforests and the harsh Queensland outback.” Dates have been set for next year, the 20-31 August 2007.
