The ARea51 Series races are a great way for Queenslanders to be involved in the growing sport of adventure racing. These events are the perfect introduction for first time competitors as well as an exciting race for veterans. The sausage sizzle at the end is also great time to meet and socialise with fellow racers!

Mountain Designs GeoQuest 48hr is Australia’s premier adventure race. It involves 48hrs of non-stop endurance racing in the disciplines of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, roping and snorkeling. Mixed, Male or Female teams of four travel to this event from all parts of Australia and overseas to test their ultimate physical and mental limits.

XPD is Australia’s own expedition length adventure race. Up to 80 teams of four competitors from Australia and overseas will trek, mountain bike, kayak and complete roping sections in this world renowned expedition. These world class athletes will push themselves day and night over 10 days to the ultimate limits of human endurance.
After successful events in Melbourne and Brisbane, the popular Weight Watchers Urban Max is returning to Sydney on a grand scale with entries already over 40% full. Starting from Darling Harbour, up to 300 teams will compete in the biggest urban adventure of the year with over $6000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
After 11 years, 11 Polaris Challenges, 8 Urban Polaris and 4 Paddle Polaris, the curtain will come down on the 2007 Urban Polaris in Canberra on 2 December, Huw Kingston of Wild Horizons announced recently. “I love these events but sometimes loves and passions are better left behind when still on a high.” “Life is about passions and not doing things mechanically so it’s time to move on to new challenges; some known, some unknown. We hope to see as many Polaris regulars and newbies as possible at the Urban in December. It should be fun!” Hew Kingston said.
But watch this space……..The Polaris Challenge has been a fixture on the 2nd weekend in March for 11 years now. For all those wondering what to do with your weekend, have no fear. Enjoy the rest in 2008 but get ready for an exciting new event in the pipeline which will use that weekend from 2009 onwards.

The 2007 Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge (MWPTC) is a gruelling physical and mental adventure race in aid of charity, held in Tasmania – Australia’s adventure capital.
F1 drivers, V8 drivers, World Champion adventure racers, tri-athletes and runners, musicians, TV personalities and Olympians will be in Tasmania in November to compete in this year’s Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge (MWPTC).

This highly successful kayak event, first held in 2005, has evolved into a bigger, wider, stronger, faster and more fun event… the 2007 Teva Cataract Adventure Sport Festival. It includes a range of exciting events, which will appeal to spectators and outdoor adventurers of all sorts, all based around the lower part of Launceston’s’ Cataract Gorge – Australian’s most awesome urban wilderness area.
Bright sunny weather, with a forecast of 28 degrees, on the scale of one to 10, this day was a perfect 10 for adventure racing throughout Sydney. The day started off with at a meeting point at Darling Harbour, this being our first adventure race we thought that we would come prepared. North, South, East, West of Darling Harbour we had all possible public transport routes mapped out and organised ready to commence. Low and behold our dismay, when we boarded a Whale Watching boat and were dropped off at Circular Quay for our first stop. Our pre-race planning just went out of the window.
