Aussies climb to the top of the world
Sydney’s Daily Telegraph reported this morning than an Australian climbing team has conquered Mt Everest. In near perfect wearther, climbers Rob Jackson, David Chiew and Mark Sheen reached the 8850m summit yesterday (5th June 2007). The group was blessed with excellent conditions and no clouds or wind.
Expedition leader Duncan Chessell said Mr Chiew and Mr Jackson had overcome pneumonia to gain the summit. The climb put Mr Jackson in the elite group of climbers to have conquered the seven summits, the highest peaks on the seven continents.
