Australian Climbing Festival 07The Australian Climbing Festival is the biggest climbing event AND the biggest adventure sport festival in the Southern Hemisphere! On in the Blue Mountain over the Easter Long Weekend 2007, it is bringing together some of the worlds most inspirational adventurers and climbers, some of the best adventure films, spectacular climbing competitions, music, arts and lots more!

21 SPEAKERS CONFIRMED including:

  • PETER CROFT – American climber, renowned for his solo climbing (rope-less) ascents of elite level rock climbs around the world.
  • JON MUIR – One of the worlds most diverse and intrepid adventurers. His escapades extend from being the first to make a non sherpa-assisted ascent of Mt Everest, to walking to both the North and South Poles, to his unsupported crossing of Australia on foot with his dog.
  • DR GLENN SINGLEMAN AND HEATHER SWAN – BASEjumping world record holders. An Australian husband and wife team who recently ascended and then jumped from 6604m peak, Mt Meru in India. They have been featured in Australian Story 3 times and have become high profile defenders of this sport.
  • TIM MACARTNEY-SNAPE - The first person in the world to scale Mt Everest from sea level, and one of Australia’s most accomplished mountaineers.
  • TIMMY O’NEILL – American climber, Timmy has set speed climbing records from Yosemite to Patagonia. He is a world-class slack-liner, renowned building climber, environmental crusader and comedian.

  • Adventure film competition with over $1000 worth of prizes.
  • Best of Banff Mountain Film Fest - Climbing Selection.

CLIMBING COMPETITIONS

  • Escalade Climbing Championships 07 - Australia’s leading sport (indoor) climbers will come together at Australia’s only fully invitational climbing competition. This will include difficulty comp, a speed climbing comp, and an attempt at the Dyno World Record! The Australian Dyno record will be set!
  • Beal Slack Lining comp – over an outdoor pool ($1000 worth of prizes) This is Australia’s first slack-lining competition!

MOUNTAIN MUSIC & ARTS

  • Lowepro Vertical World Photography Competition (with over $5000 worth of prizes) and gallery.
  • Art of Climbing Gallery
  • LIVE MUSIC from Midday ‘til late both days
