Melbourne Trail Horse Riders Club.
10th - 11th February 2007
Firth Park, East Trentham, Victoria.
We’re a group of like minded people that have our own horses & transport, who like getting together regularly to trail ride. Our February ride is a camp-over ride staying at Firth Park picnic ground which is located in the Wombat State Forest. We will do two 1 day bush rides from there on Saturday & Sunday leaving at 10am both days and returning to camp at around 3pm. We carry our lunches with us and usually stop out on the trail somewhere for a short break and a bite to eat. Dinner will be available at the local pub (Pig & Whistle) for those inclined on Saturday night (price not included). Anyone who attends must be somewhat experienced at bush/trail type riding and be fully self-sufficient. A small ride fees is payable to the club to cover insurance for any guests and appropriate waiver paperwork must be completed before the commencement of the ride. Any enquiries can be directed to myself at allison.seeley(at)cba.com.au or by calling (03) 9323 4309.

Accompanying Steve for this trip was Emma the Barra Queen and Sally Neagle, both reel women who can fish. Sally was also chasing her first meter barra so for Mick the guide, there was twice the challenge.

I originally thought of going light, with only a daypack and handlebar bag of tools, but that seemed to make things a bit too harsh (no hot food, no thermarest, limited food/water). I soon came to the following setup:
