Bushwalker survives freezing Tasmanian weather
August 26th, 2006Tasmanian Police that a bushwalker has survived two nights in sub-zero temperatures, lost in central Tasmania. The police had lost hope that the 45 year old William Shaw had survived freezing conditions since Thursday afternoon near Cradle Mountain.
Racing at the 17th annual Airlie Beach Race Week starts on Friday 10th August in Pioneer Bay and climaxes on Thursday 17th 2006. The Whitsunday Sailing Club event will feature 93 monohulls racing in IRC, IRC Cruising, Premier Cruising, Performance Handicap, Sports Boat and Cruising classes.
The 2006 Everest climbing season ending much has been made about the tragedies that have occured this year but perhaps now is a good time to recap on the successes for this year. More than 200 climbers reached the summit this year. Australian Robert Killup and New Zealander Mark Inglis where among the successful climbers to achieve this. Mark Inglis achieving his success on two artificial carbon fibre legs, breaking one at 7,000 metres. He became the first double-amputee to summit Mt Everest.
