Whales Arrive in Augusta Western Australia

Large pods of whales from the depths of Antarctica have been spotted at Flinder’s Bay near Augusta. Known as the Bay of Whales, Flinder’s Bay is one of the first places on the Western Australian coast where whales are sighted at the beginning of their migration.

The arrival is unique in that two species of whales, the Humpback and Southern Right Whales, interact socially in the bay at the same time. During the whale watching season, as many as 200 whales can be seen in the bay at any one time.

Whale watching cruises are now operating and can be booked through Augusta Visitor Centre on + 61 8 9758 0166, the Margaret River Visitor Centre on + 61 8 9780 5911.
