P.A.C.I. Top Rope Course – Brisbane
The PACI (Professional Association of Climbing Instructors) Top Rope course, near Brisbane, is perfect for everyone from first timers to those who have tried or are climbing at a gym or with a group but now want to progress to the outdoors safely themselves.
The top-rope climbing course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to locate a suitable climbing route (using a guide book), rig a solid and reliable anchor system, operate a belay system and climb the route using a range of climbing techniques.
Qualification: Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the outdoor recreation training package. (Nationally recognised).
Typical Training Plan
Pre Course Preparation:
- Course notes and exams will be sent to you for study and completion, prior to the start of your course.
- Practice your knots
- Ensure you have all the meeting times from your Instructor including the equipment requirements (Order hire gear from instructor if required)
Day 1:
- Review of exams
- Review equipment for rock climbing
- Knot tying
- Interpreting a guide-book an locating a route
- Identifying rock features
- Creating a safety line system
- Setting up anchor systems for a bottom belay system
- Belay skills- Safety calls
- Climbing skills
Day 2:
- Creating anchors using artificial anchor points
- Further climbing practice
- Assessment phase
- Administration for certificates
Duration: Two (2) days nominal (may vary according to location and required training and skills)
Enrolment: Must be at least 15 years of age, speak and understand English, be fit and healthy for climbing
